Many look at the mirror, thinking they don’t like what they see and focus only on what they want to change about their body. Positive self-care, self-talk and positive reinforcement are the keystones to making any physical change. You need to love yourself enough that you want to FEEL healthier, not just look the part.
It was important that one of the most important factors went into Jenny’s program, and should go into every competitor’s program - her real life.
“The Lifestyle Fit Coach Program has been eye opening and has definitely provided guidance for long-term lifestyle changes.”
"Sisters In Shape is a group of liked minded women who actually want to help women succeed in whatever their fitness goals are and beyond. They truly care about you. These women have given me my drive back and a longing to want to be healthy and stay focused on a lifestyle I am passionate about!"
It was then that I decided that I needed to be strong and show my kids what it meant to be strong. Show them that we could be strong together. I knew it was time to love myself enough to pursue the life that I wanted to live. I realized I deserved to be happy.
“Sometimes you can’t always see the fruits of your labor…” says Adrienne, which can undoubtedly lead to feelings of self doubt on whether you’re making progress toward your goals. But during those times, it's essential to reflect on our WHY, celebrate successes, remember the struggles you’ve overcome and embrace where you are at that moment.
When Christie started her journey with Sisters in Shape, she had reached a point of wanting more in fitness and health. She was tired of trying to find balance and continue doing it all. She needed a group of women who would challenge me, inspire me, and empower me. She joined the SiS Lifestyle Fit Program to begin her journey.
Krista’s goals as a fitness mentor mirror the ones she has for herself; to find happiness, and to appropriately respond to challenges. The metaphorical equivalent of finding a window to climb through, when it seems like a door has been shut, and finding a little healthy self-improvement along with your self-acceptance.
Natasha Hopkins was in probably the best shape of her life, training for a figure competition, when an auto collision derailed her fitness track and put several aspects of her life on hold.
Crystal had known for a long time that she wanted to get back to fitness and feeling like herself once and for all. A self-proclaimed yo-yo dieter, she was always trying to find the quickest way to get to where she wanted to be with no regard for the healthiest approach. She even went through a difficult period of time when she battled binge eating. A better approach was a must!
Kristy loves being part of SiS because of the power she finds in having an online trainer by her side. With someone cheering her on who is fitness minded, and able to provide advice when she needs it, or a new routine to get her motivated and moving forward, Kristy is seeing results.
“I Needed To Get Strong. I Was Ready To Fight Back Against The Mentality That Had Been Placed At My Feet Of ‘I Am Not Good Enough.’ I Began To Be Good Enough For ME. The Gym Became My Therapist Office. It Became My Happy Place, And Left Me Feeling Powerful And Invincible.”
"Before Sisters in Shape, I never trusted flexible dieting enough to try it. I lived off straight meal plans, which controlled my life and made it very difficult to have fun or be social." Following a strict meal plan with no flexibility led to a period of binging, resulting in added weight gain. Only to repeat the same vicious cycle again...
While Christie says that her formal education has been helpful in her pursuits as an online personal trainer, fitness coach, and figure/powerlifting athlete, she maintains that her personal experience with pregnancy weight gain, weight loss and bodybuilding is what has taught her the most.
In Summer 2016, Stephanie was one year into “maintaining” a 35lb weight loss when she began contemplating her next milestone. A former distance runner, Stephanie was looking for a challenge that would benefit her health and improve her physique, yet be easier on the joints. Her knees no longer could handle the impact of running; she needed a new primary form of exercise.
In 2015, Rada was an avid distance runner looking to change up her fitness routine. “I wanted to put on some muscle, because while I enjoyed cardio and running, I felt that I looked ‘skinny fat’.” Rada began online coaching with Sisters in Shape and made great progress during her first year. And then, life threw Rada and her family some challenges that required her fitness goals to be placed on the back burner.
After the birth of her first child, Adrienne’s body bounced right back. When she had her daughter 5 years later, she discovered that she wouldn’t have the same experience the second time around.
As a military wife whose husband just left on tour, Vanessa was searching for some support to help her achieve some fitness goals.
Natasha's transformation hasn’t just been a physical one; “I have more energy. I feel like I can balance things better. I see myself differently... We as women are our worst critics. It’s been great to have a coach to look at you. They see you from a different angle than you see yourself.”
"I have learned so much about myself. For years, I allowed fear to hold me back from following my dreams. I have grown in so many ways and love the person that I have become! I no longer allow fear to hold me back; instead, I allow myself to feel the fear and do it anyway!”
“The biggest thing Sisters in Shape has given me is the ability to get rid of ‘mom guilt.’ SiS has empowered me to taking time for myself. The SiS community has helped me to realize that not only is it OK, but it is totally necessary. It’s also helped me to be a good role model for my family. I’ve inspired my kids to workout. They know Mom takes time to work out and they are cool with it.”
KATHARINE, 36, BUSINESS OWNER & MOTHER OF 3
A business owner and busy mom of 3 who wanted to get back in shape after some time away. She was an athlete in the past and knew how important fitness and nutrition are for a healthy lifestyle, but she also needed someone to motivate her and help her plan those workouts and nutrition goals because as busy women we can’t do everything ourselves, right? Katharine joined SiS as a Lifestyle Fit Program client and didn’t have dreams of competing – she just wanted to get her everyday life in balance and live healthy. But, as she started reaching her goals, she quickly became motivated to get back to that athletic lifestyle.
The best part of Katharine’s journey is that she loves who she has become. Staring at a her "after" photo, teary eyed because she can’t believe how beautiful she looks, she not only feels beautiful, but accomplished. What began as a desire to have fun and be part of a team quickly became so much more. It became the turning point where Katharine realized just how beautiful and amazing she really is. Plus, she has become an inspiration to others - helping to encourage them in their journeys and know they can achieve what they set their minds to.
As women we can build each other up and help each other reach our goals. For Katharine, she found this encouragement through working with her SiS coach, and now she helps inspire other women to go for their goals, reach their dreams, and be beautiful in their own unique ways.
MONICA - FROM SOCCER STAR TO FITNESS COMPETITOR TO SIS COACH
Monica was already fit when she decided to join Sisters in Shape. As a former NCAA Soccer player, Monica was already used to working hard to reach her fitness goals, but after college she started looking for a new challenge - the world of fitness competitions. Hearing about Sisters in Shape from a friend, she decided to check it out and see if SiS could help her with her new found goal of getting ready for her first competition. As someone who was already really athletic and considering becoming a fitness coach herself, it wasn’t that she needed someone to help her understand the why behind working out - she needed someone who could push her to do her best, and challenge her along the way. Impressed by her soon to be coach’s experience in the fitness competitor world, Monica joined Sisters in Shape Power Prep Program and went on to win her very first competition.
Already pretty fit when she first joined, Monica was looking for something different that would challenge her and help her reach a new goal. She had never focused on building muscle like she did for her first competition and remembers the experience as one that was challenging and made her feel accomplished and beautiful. She felt better, stronger, and confident. She was proud of what she had achieved and felt confident in her body - even when wearing a bikini.
After 8 months in the SiS program she got more out of it than she could have imagined and went on to become a SiS Personal Trainer where she can help others achieve their goals. Her advice to those considering becoming part of the SiS community is that when you have the right mindset and it’s the right time SiS can be one of the best decisions a woman can make for herself mentally, and physically. Having a community of supportive women by your side, gaining better fitness, and reaching your goals are all key here at SiS. Whether you’re a busy mom, business owner, or corporate employee, being part of SiS goes beyond the physical benefits and can help you find that balance, be fit, and be healthy. Monica is proud to be part of the SiS team helping her clients achieve their goals and live their healthiest lives now!
